If you're planning to stay in Northumberland, our brand-new holiday let in Alnwick has been creating some excitement on the Narrowgate this spring. The Counting House, named due to its history as a Savings Bank, sleeps up to four people across four floors and is one of the most unique buildings in the town.
Located at 11 Narrowgate and opposite Bowring Hepple Black, The Counting House has been affectionately referred to as 'Alnwick's own Gringotts Bank". Originally built in the mid-19th century. the property features intricate stone carvings and a dramatic facade that would definitely lead you to believe that a dragon may be lurking in the basement somewhere.
Across the four floors, guests will discover two enchanting bedrooms (one with a four poster double and the other with two single beds), a well-equipped kitchen/diner, a cosy living room, and a family bathroom with a claw-footed bath. On the top floor you'll find what is possibly our favourite room, 'The Vaulted View'. This cosy nook has outstanding and unique views across Alnwick's rooftops, as well as a feature fireplace, books and some games.
We recently invited the much-loved Harry Potter content creator, Will Giffard (@will.giffard), to come and stay so that he could feel the magic himself whilst visiting the Harry Potter locations in the north east of England...
"It's amazing being so close to the castle, it makes the whole experience feel extra special. The property itself is very beautiful, and I especially loved the little "secret" play room, such a fun touch... I also really like that the shop is so close by. There's a great variety of items, from wands to replicas, which makes it really fun to explore"
